Tour to the Altos Limpios and visit to the Huarpe Community
In this tour you will get to know an area of Mendoza that will impress you with its desert landscape. You will understand why they say that the city is an oasis and you will visit the native communities to share with them their experiences and traditions.
In the north of the province is the department of Lavalle. A place full of history that preserves intact the ancestral culture and culinary customs.
A driver will pick you up at your hotel early in the morning. We will start this experience with an explanation from one of our expert guides about the origins of Mendoza and its first inhabitants. On the way we will learn in depth about the Huarpe culture, native to this land. A little more than 100 km away we will arrive at our first destination, the Telteca Forest Provincial Reserve. We will be welcomed by a park ranger and we will start the self-guided tour in which we will learn about the native flora and fauna.
Then we will go to the Altos Limpios, an incredible landscape with dunes up to 20 meters high, where we will hike accompanied by a member of the Huarpe community. Today these dunes are ideal for sandboarding and taking spectacular pictures as if you were in the Sahara.
At the end we will go to one of the typical stalls of the area. In this rural and rustic place, we will learn about the culture of the native people. We will eat homemade delicacies, such as fried empanadas and the exquisite “chivito a las llamas” accompanied with regional wine. We will share lunch and connect with the locals through their customs, leather work, loom weaving and a tasty mateada with “sopaipillas“.
We will return to Mendoza with the wisdom of those who were linked to the Inca Empire and who were the originators of the irrigation system that characterizes our province.
If you visit Mendoza during the full moon, don’t miss the night tour to the Altos Limpios, it will seem like you are in a tale of “The Arabian Nights”.
