Small group tour to the high Andes with trekking to Quebrada del Durazno
Mendoza is much more than wine and wineries! If you come, you cannot miss the Andes Mountains and everything that surrounds this unique place in the world: mountain villages, roads full of stories, incredible landscapes and the highest mountain in America.
The area known as Alta Montaña is only a few hours away from the city. The contrast with the vineyards and the typical groves of Mendoza is amazing, when entering this region of great snow-capped peaks the landscape becomes rugged and rocky. Get ready for a day of disconnection and fresh air.
We will pick you up very early in the morning at your accommodation with a fun group of travelers from other parts of the world. Our guide, an expert in the history and geography of Mendoza, will explain everything you need to better understand our culture. One hour from the city we will find the first mountain villages: Cacheuta and its hot springs is ideal to relax, Villa Potrerillos with its artisans and its privileged view of the dam is a charming place to stay but we have to go on!
Continuing the course of the Mendoza River we will arrive to Uspallata, a tourist town with a lot of history and great gastronomic offerings. A few minutes away from this urban point we will visit the Penitentes ski resort. Then we will visit one of the most amazing geological formations you have ever seen: the Puente del Inca, a natural monument included in the Andean road system known as Camino del Inca, which was declared World Heritage by Unesco.
After a few photos in this incredible place, we will continue on our way to the Aconcagua Provincial Park where we will be welcomed by the park rangers, experts in native flora and fauna. After the welcome, our guide will give you the necessary information and precautions to take into account for the trekking.
Remember that we will be at 2800 meters above sea level, we recommend you to go slowly, take it easy and drink plenty of water, it is important to be well hydrated! If you choose to walk to the Quebrada del Durazno take appropriate clothing because it will be approximately 2 hours in total with a moderate difficulty. If you decide to walk to the Mirador the path is easier and in 45 minutes you will be back, if you don’t get paralyzed in front of the imposing 6,962 meters of the giant of America.
After enjoying the best landscapes and full of pure mountain air, we will start our way back to the city.
Do you already know the story of the mummy of Aconcagua? Ask the guide to tell it to you to know in depth our traditions and beliefs. With this information the excursion will be more complete and you will be able to talk to the locals about this historical fact.
