Trekking to the Confluencia Camp in Aconcagua Park
If you come to Mendoza you cannot miss the trekking to Confluencia, the base camp of one of the highest mountains in the world. In this exclusive day tour we will experience first hand the sensation of those who seek to reach the summit.
We will accompany you on a unique journey to the heart of the Andes Mountains, where you will discover wonderful landscapes and face the giant of America in an unforgettable experience.
We will pick you up at your accommodation very early in the morning to take advantage of the whole day. Together with an expert driver and a high mountain guide we will head towards the Aconcagua Provincial Park. In 2 hours of travel we will cross mountain villages; we will visit the Puente del Inca and then we will arrive at the Horcones Valley, where we will get ready to start the trekking. After listening to our guide’s recommendations and checking the equipment, we will take the first steps towards Confluencia. It will be about 4 hours of moderate hiking on a medium demanding route. You should be prepared, as we will climb from 2,800 to 3,400 meters above sea level.
Along the way we will be amazed by the incredible landscapes, the plentiful rivers of melting snow, the unique natural beauty of the meadows and the fauna of the place. Most likely we will see the condor, the sacred bird of the Andes, and all kinds of animals native to this wonderful place.
When we arrive at the first camp of the normal route to the summit, we will feel a special adrenaline rush. We will be able to walk around it while we are surprised by its surroundings and the imposing view of Almacenes Hill. The passion for the mountain transforms Confluencia into a unique scenario to share experiences with other travelers and climbers. Here we will enjoy a box lunch and then we will start our way back to the entrance of the park.
We will return to the city happy to have lived an unforgettable day on the highest mountain in America.
In one of the rest stops during the trekking, ask the guide to tell you about Aconcagua and the Incas. It is interesting to know the importance of the stone sentinel for that millenary culture.
At SAK Wine & Travel we want our trips to be a transforming experience for those who visit us and we know that sustainable tourism is the tool to achieve it. That is why in every excursion you do with us you are contributing to the care of Mendoza’s water.
What do I need to know?
We suggest you to bring these items for personal use to make your excursion perfect:
– Small backpack.
– Extra mineral water.
– Personal care items (lip balm with sunscreen, sunscreen SPF50, antibacterial gel/wipes, insect repellent).
– Special clothing: hat or cap, sunglasses, comfortable and warm clothing (fleece/sweater, windbreaker), appropriate footwear for the activity.
Note: The best clothing for mountain activities is wool or synthetic materials in layers, as they dry quickly and keep warmth better. We suggest a base layer, then an intermediate layer, such as a light fleece coat or similar, and then a windproof and waterproof layer.
Safety tips: Inform the guide or driver of any illnesses, allergies or physical restrictions. Remember to bring your medication and administration instructions.
